Keeping away the winter blues.................

Hi everyone, first off,.......the very best of the seasons greetings to you all.Just to keep the momentum going I have embarked on putting together a woodie Smooth Genie  Pro, from a box of timber supplied by Jim Ealy. Good looking ship and very well engineered. Had an easy week so began putting it together, have posted some pics of the fuse online. "Washout really helps when flying slow, only have 1/4 inch. She turns really well, on a wing tip if needed, but need speed. However I feel the yaw response is a tad slower than a plane with poly........ the plus side is that she s not tossed around…"

"Really, really easy to fly, but squirrely on the climb with the hi start. There is no hook adjustment as designed. So if ever I build another one, the fuse will be a tad narrower and have adjustable hook."

how long have you been flying and what types of gliders?
Flying some 30 years, only improved in the last 10. Started with a Frog Vega, an English kit from the 60's, beautiful plane with a 45" span, still have the fuselage. Malta too small and rocky for proper gliders and soaring, but Sloping is a treat.
your first glider? your favorite? building now or next?
Frog Vega, was my first, follwed by a Keil Kraft Conquest, building a Zagi and a Windfree.
what clubs or groups do you belong to?
Rhode Island Soaring Club

Free lance large yacht captain, build captain/project manager and a trained shipwright to boot.

Alex, welcome aboard, matey. It looks like we have a few things in common (sailing, soaring). My wife and I have been livaboards for going on 16 years. We have no children, but one very spoiled polydactyl cat (6 toes on each paw). Our Westsail 32 has 1 circumnavigation under her keel and has survived several hurricanes while providing us a dry and comfortable home. I envy your location. Rhode Island has long been on my places-to-go list.
